I don’t think I had forgotten how to laugh,
but somehow I think I had.
The jokes, the attitude, the quizzes,
made things not seem so bad.
Though politics was woven throughout —
from headlines to
outrageous stories about —
ridiculous situations, I found a sense of solace,
of joy (despite the drama around us).
Because we were able to finally see
The Cast of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me.
(Mo Rocca, whee!)

Some Words
After this past week, I wanted to post something less stressful. Over the summer I finally realized a years long quest to see Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. A product of NPR and WBEZ Chicago, this weekly hour-long quiz show has been a constant delight in my life. Even when I go months without listening (my podcast time ebbs and flows each year) its so easy to just jump back in and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.
Seeing it live when I was surrounded by worry was a godsend. For a blissful period of time I could look at the mess we live in and feel lighthearted, even though our guest was James Comey. Finally, it was awesome to see Mo Rocca (who I love) in person and whose Wait Wait… presence is weirdly cathartic.
